About
I am currently involved in developing a collaborative innovation environment for social and health services (www.innokyla.fi), which supports the participation of various relevant stakeholders. Its theoretical background is in technology studies: systemic innovations, relational ontology and actor-network theory. The web service exploits recent developments in collaborative knowledge systems: the pragmatic web principles and a trialogical approach to knowledge creation.
Other research interests include (i.) the constitution theory of technology and (ii.) collaborative creativity and technology-mediated learning. I have a background in philosophy, but I am also interested in the sociology of science and technology, theory of learning and questions concerning the methods of education. In my doctoral thesis I developed an account of the social constitution of technical artifacts. In this account, I combined some central ideas of social ontology (f. ex. collective intentionality, practices, and institutions) with a more traditional ontological perspective on technical artifacts. I have also done research on applied epistemology, the social and cognitive aspects of model-based reasoning, and abductive reasoning.
